LATEST REVIEW 2016 Lamborghini Huracan Spyder

Since its introduction two years ago, Lamborghini Huracan has surprised and impressed us with the balance between attitude and ability (and sales). Additional extroverted super sports car, candy-colored wedge of Sant'Agata - we would not expect anything less than a Lamborghini - but it's back with a firmness trademark sharp agility. This has proven to be eager to devour the valley and square off against the frozen lake as it is to attract the attention of the police, and seemed to have a promising racing career ahead of it to boot.

In summary, the raging bull, but only if you want.

And 2016 Huracan Spyder? That's all it was, minus the roof.

We were in unfamiliar territory here, powertrain-wise, you will recognize the all-wheel drive, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission coupe and the 602-hp 5.2-liter V10, which Lamborghini says it will continue naturally aspirated during the regulators allow it. Sprint to 62 mph takes 3.4 seconds, or 0.2 seconds slower than the coupe, but who's counting?

Even the aluminum-and-carbon "hybrid chassis," which is associated with the Audi R8, bringing more or less unchanged from the coupe Huracan - unless, of course, for the ragtop. The Huracan designed with a convertible variant inevitable in mind, and said torsional rigidity up 40 percent compared to the Gallardo Spyder even without extensive (and heavy) structural bracing. So you're not sacrificing stiffness or road feel to enjoy the wind in your chest hair.

Or are you sacrificing style. Long, flat rear deck so many characteristics of declining peaks - including the Gallardo Spyder - is not here; Lamborghini worked to ensure wedgy profile coupe and hexagonal side window openings (Lambo became hexagon now, for some reason) is maintained with the top up or down. All the hardware conversion means that remarkable naturally aspirated V10 that is more or less permanently hidden from view, even if you pop the engine cover. But you can hear it trumpeted so much better with the top down than you ever could in the coupe; we'll consider a fair tradeoff.

Spyder burdened with a substantial weight penalty, however: 3399 pound here than 3135 pounds for the coupe. Many (220 pounds) from three layer soft top electro-hydraulically actuated and associated hardware, which includes the safety bar pop-up roll bar that fills the role of big should you flip it over. We provide a convertible top heck of a workout but never got to test that last feature.
