Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the junior of the two victims of the Japanese SUV marque, and one with the best hope to win over new buyers. With a short wheelbase, useful if the interior of the base and a solid set of standard items, the 2.4-liter four-cylinder GT sits on top of the range the Outlander Sport. Whether it is competitive with other best-selling small crossover is a different question, though.
In the case of Outlander Sport, Sport does not mean "sporty performance"; Sport means small, at least versus the regular Outlander, itself not exactly great. Sport also does not mean quick or agile, although larger 2.4-liter unit in the upper trim levels, like this one, give this model a little more oomph from the base 2-liter ES. Adequate power for cruising in town, as long as you do not wait, but it takes some time for the engine a little hoarse to really get this wee SUV will be, especially with its continuously variable transmission.

Acceleration arrived with retro-style lift your nose and continues with quite loud growl as the Outlander Sport speed advantage. Braking is equally retro, with heavy dip. Cruising at highway speeds provide sufficient muted engine and road noise, and the engine feels a little more comfortable; at high speeds remain fairly well composed, but this is definitely not the comfort zone of the Outlander Sport.

road manners may be the biggest problem holding back small SUV; handling and quietness is straight out of the 1990s and is best left to dedicated off-roader that will actually be used off-road, as opposed to running the school. There was plenty of body roll to go around, and the suspension reinforces the kind of road imperfections other SUVs in this segment are not even aware. The wheels seem happy rebound off the hole with a good amount of suspension noise, and the entire chassis seems too eager to react to everything. Yes, it makes traveling around the city a little more dramatic, to the point that you would think, "Wow, the streets of my city is worse than I realized." This is not the kind of experience may be a hit with buyers of compact SUVs. One bright spot was immaculate turning radius and produce ease of parking.
Interior Outlander Sport feels more modern than other Mitsubishi, but this statement is relative: it still feels a decade old, that might make sense for the leader of a very cheap price, but our tester optioned up to $ 26,190: That's the same region as the Jeep Renegade and its twin Fiat 500X, to name a few competitors arguably better.
